Dr. N.S. Ramegowda started his career as a teacher in a rural college in Kanakapura near Bangalore and with hard work he rose to the positions of Reader, Professor, Principal and served the University as Member of Academic Council, Member of Senate and Member of Syndicate. Later he served IGNOU as a Regional Director at Bangalore and as a Director at Head Office in New Delhi. In his career in the area of Open and Distance Learning, he has pioneered in framing policies, rules and regulations, guidelines in formulating syllabus, content creation and presentation for various programmes. His rich experience in the area of Open and Distance Learning made to take up the responsibility of Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University, Mysore. Under his dynamic guidance and stewardship, KSOU become not only one of the coveted Universalities in India but one of the richest Universities in India. He established KSOU to international standards. He has served in the board of UGC, IGNOU, DEC, AICTE and Committees of Govt of Karnataka. After his retirement from government services, several deemed Universities are utilizing his fifty years of rich experience in the area of higher education as well as distance education. Currently he is advisor to many Open Universities as well as several deemed Universities and guiding them in establishing educational policies. Dr. N.S.
